A vision of tranquility.
We did all sorts today including a snowy beach walk which took us past this tranquil spot.
It’s such a delight to feel sun on your face , cold crisp air on your skin and be enfolded in this snowy , wooded landscape .
After a leisurely breakfast we headed into town and visited the Left party offices , meeting a few members and seeing the window display , sometimes featured in blip, with our own eyes.
One of our shared pleasures is to browse around the charity shops so we headed there next , passing a group of Green-party members who were raising awareness regarding the towns young peoples project to support the people of the Ukraine. So much face to face politics in a short stretch, It brought back memories of what it was like in the early eighties in Blackburn and felt good ! We were very early members of the ecology party in Sheffield in the late seventies and then eventually joined the Labour Party as it seemed our best hope for getting rid of the American Cruise Missiles from our land.
I find myself disillusioned with politics and so yesterdays encounters were like a breathe of fresh air , even more so in theses particularly unpleasant European moments .
On a lighter note there was much treasure to be found in the charity shops, fabric and tape for bag making , a coat for snowy weather and a beautifully, full length black woollen coat that had my name on it !!!
We ate a delicious lunch together looking out over the frozen sound between two of the islands that make up Harnosand and then went off to the beach for a most enjoyable walk along the frozen beach at Smitigen. We have been there before , both in sunny summer and for wintry walks when even the waves were frozen. The sea was moving with fluidity today but was thick with frozen flakes of ice which were pushed and pulled as the waves met the shore as if they were pieces of shingle on a pebbly beach , it made a musical sound which provided the soundtrack for our ramble .
It’s so lovely to be here . ( probably said that already .)
