Patiently Waiting for Lunch

She was sitting in the Flatwoods Plum (currently in flower), just above the bog. She had a perfect view of our pond. The frogs and fish were in their major hiding mode. I shot this with a longs lens so as not to disturb this gorgeous Red-shouldered hawk. Mating and nest construction saps a lot of energy so raptors must up their hunting game! I've taken many, many hawk photos over the years, I'm thinking that this is one of my favorite images!
