Fluffy clouds and blue sky

If I happen to be passing this small heathland reserve and the light is right, I often stop, stroll and take some photos.

I wasn’t the only person here.

Quite often there are a few cars, some just parked, but today the people were making the most of this interesting little place.

There were two lots of dog walkers. One couple walking through. Another couple just stopping the car to let the dogs have a short stop.

A cyclist tore along the path at speed, but the most interesting individual was metal detecting. (If you look closely in the bottom left you can see him in action.

He told me he’d found a few bits of unidentified bronze that he’ll be taking to a museum. He told me a bit about the track that crosses the heathland, that you can just see since they did some clearing. He said he often comes here. Well, it’s logical. It’s no more than four miles away from where the Staffordshire Hoard was found, and less than two miles from Letocetum, the Roman site.

I wished him luck.
