Flight of Fancy

Today the weather was wet and miserable, I didn't venture far but got nothing I felt was good enough to use. I came home a dejected, resigned to an emergency Blip but as I went through to see the twins I saw this feather blowing across the back garden. I grabbed the camera and dashed out.

It was a little disheveled, obviously it had been through the rigors of a blustery day, again my mind wandered, it had been spent by a gul, as the birds fly our house is only about two miles from the coast, guls are a common sight but it still makes visitors comment that its strange to see guls so far inland!!!

Feathers are beautiful things even this one plain and ordinary, not brightly coloured like those that adorn some of the more exotic species but to to look at them you see mother nature at her best, designed to be strong yet flexible and waterproof, the droplets of water sit beautifully on the down, man has never replicated the simplicity of nature and likely never will!

Best viewed in large I suspect!
