Honeyfield Fountain
Another sunset I'm afraid. I see them on my evening walk, so what can I do but take a photo?
The Honeyfeild Fountain was built in 1907. It was donated to the city by former resident, Mrs Alice Honeyfield.
In 2006 it was temporarily dismantled and conserved, before being reinstalled in 2007.
In the early hours of 27 April 2013 a stolen car, driven by a 15-year-old youth, crashed through the fence at the end of Dawson Street and it was almost completely destroyed.
Restoration work was carried out in Auckland and the fountain was reinstalled on 28 February 2014.
Because of the angle you have to put your head in to drink, it is almost totally unusable.
Will catch up with yesterday's comments etc, tomorrow
