Impressionism in Humshaugh
Today's plans were changed radically. Mum's eye operation was cancelled due to an emergency; new date in 2 weeks time. I managed a longer walk over the fields before lunch and Arth did not complain too much at the time.
It remained grey and the colour palette of the landscape was very restricted. I saw this row of trees in a field and something about them made me think of Holland. The prevailing wind for us is west to east, which explains why the birches at the left of this image are shorter than those at the right. I liked the small copper beeches too.
Best seen large and sit back.
The light was very flat so I decided to use the Art History brush to create an impressionist effect. Then I added a gradient to give the sky a pale bluish wash.
Mum had to see the rheumatologist this afternoon. She has prescribed chilli cream for her knee. How about that?!
