The Manukau Harbour

I have had a very restful day. Finished another Brunetti crime story. And then had a run along the Pipeline. Near the end of the steep track up to the upper level (the older pipeline) I saw that I was able to see the Manukau Harbour including the narrowing to the Manukau Heads (out of view in my photo). There is a dangerous sandbar at the entrance to the harbour. On a day like today, the harbour looks totally benign.

Daughter C and Mr H both tested negative for Covid once again. Afer a series of negative RAT tests their GP asked for a nasal swab, and that has also been reported as negative. As both have (relatively mild) symptoms, we were all expecting the swabs to show Covid. Trying to make sense of it, I told S that the vaccinations have enabled them to fight off the virus, and their symptoms are the result of the stress and strain of that. 

It is a pity that the anti-vax protesters cannot see that this is the reason we advocate being vaccinated. Despite 20,000 new cases per day currently, the hospitalisation rate remains low, and less than a dozen are need intensive care in the country. The riot in Wellington is behind us, but is also a dark cloud of possibility ahead. 

Just as a narcissistic Putin can Indulge his grandiose desires at the cost of extreme harm to others (in Ukraine), there are some who attempted to manipulate the Police and then the protesters to start (in effect) a civil war. And they will not go away voluntarily.
