A Space in the Forest
Before and after pictures are great for showing what has been achieved. From nothing comes something. From a skeleton draft a project is fleshed out.
But sometimes there is an interim picture where much has been done but the final phase has not been put in place, where the potential of a piece of work can only be guessed at.
This for example, is going to be for one specific thing eventually, but for now there could be multiple possibilities. In Japan I saw a similar space high on a mountain, open to the sky, where people came and stood, arms outstretched, to garner power. But it might be a space for circle dancing, a base for wild sculptures, a foundation for a log cabin, the face of a sundial, a memorial to fallen foresters or felled trees, a helicopter pad, a mountain lion release site, a Gruffalo feeding station, a moon rocket launch stand. Would squirrels use it for stand-up comedy nights?
On a grey day with the cloud base swirling wetly through the pine needles it's good to expand imagination and smile on many future scenarios and not limit ideas to the one that's been set already.
