Vaguely Marvellous

Taking Lamby for a Walk

One of the joys of staying on a National Trust property is the visiting tourists, seeing them come and go. They filled up the courtyard outside our cottage each day.

In one of our more sensible moments (there may have been wine involved) we dared each other to take a Lamby the priceless Victorian heirloom the lamb for a walk around the courtyard. Leila was the only one brave enough, but she needed support from Dicon and Vic, who, frankly, were much better at the deadpan faces. The loveliest thing was the terribly English way the tourists just looked at her, looked away politely, and said nothing. Worth going large to see the faces on the people in the background. Very funny.

A quiet moochy day on the grounds, walked to the greenhouse and the East wood, and watched some lambs frolic.
