Unscheduled

Not quite the day I had planned. The original cast was applied to my swollen thumb. However as the swelling subsided it was becoming loose. I was concerned it was no longer doing its job.

Rang the fracture clinic first thing and within 10 minutes was travelling to Scarborough. A good decision. I was greeted by the consultant who wanted to correct the displacement and warned me it might be painful. He was however pleased that I had arrived early before his clinic began.

Plaster removed, new one applied and then pressure placed on the joint to realign it. X-ray confirmed it was in the correct place for healing. Advice given about maintaining finger function and looking after the cast.

Very impressed with the care given from start to finish. Even better the plaster will be removed before the wedding.

Then home to pick up my dress which was being shortened. The dressmaker had done a fine job. Just enough time to take Jet for a walk.

Richard is still on a high with the Middlesbrough victory against Tottenham last night.
