Compton Beach
Today the sun came out, and after a leisurely full cooked breakfast, we headed out to the Needles with N's sister E, her partner and his son. A really gorgeous day for it after all the rain, we walked up to the Old Battery, and to the top of the rocket launch site. This really is one of my favourite National Trust properties - such a varied and interesting history, along with the natural beauty of the site. You cannot fail to be impressed with the views across Alum Bay and the Needles. (I took some pictures, but I'm pretty sure I have blipped similar before). Shame about the hideous tourist 'attraction' at the bottom!
After the Needles, we drove along to Compton Bay (another favourite spot) for an ice cream and a walk along the beach. Compton Beach has a different feel to it than other beaches on the island, the colour palette is different here too - more browns and greys and golds.
In the evening, we watched a classic film - The Princess Bride - one of my all time favourites. Not sure if our 13 yr old guest enjoyed it as much as we did! :)
