One year anniversary

One year and a day since this
and one year to the day since this.

Happy one year anniversary since your 2nd open heart surgery, when your ribcage was opened up, you were put on a pacemaker, your heart was stopped, your heart was repaired, your heart was restarted successfully and your sternum was closed. That should have been the worst of it, but your lung collapsed badly and another week of intensive therapies of pounding on your chest ensued (the same chest that was stapled back together). My dearest Reuben. Sorry last night was spent being repeatedly sick with a bug, several bed changes, and this afternoon was wasted again trying to get your gtube changed (unsuccessfully) but all that aside, I'm just happy to be here where we are today, celebrating your heart anniversary. And what a beautiful lie in we both had this morning.

"Is it my choice tonight?". Actually, it's pretty much always his choice because he likes to tell Reuben what Reuben's choice is and Reuben's greatest joys are either making Callum happy, or annoying Callum.
