The Needle Returns to the Start of The Song
Isle of Pins Road, in Town, is the town route to the allotment, the woods, the rugby field.
This tree has stood for years. That's one of my blips of it. To be sure, I felt it should have fallen years ago. We've been allotment holders for 5 years now - and every year I've looked at it and thought... can't have much longer left.
Last weeks storms must have done their damage.
I'm still perturbed by all the Ukraine problems. I'm perturbed by the lack of cohesive action by the west. Oh they are all good at wringing their hands, and saying how awful it is. Where are the special forces who can go in and blow things to blazes and kill the appropriate people (i'm not suggesting for one moment the UK have ever killed anyone whose face didn't fit) .
Look at that Programme Strikeback. Those two guys go into every country in the world. Blow shit up, kill the baddies, (one of them has lots of graphic sex) and come home. Safe and Sound. We need them. NOW.
There is little I can do. If I was in Ukraine, they'd ship me out as old and infirm. They wouldn't even keep himself.
I wanted to buy sunflowers today, the national flower of Ukraine, but there were none to be had. So I planted some instead.
They will be my sign of solidarity with Ukraine and Zelensky,
On Friday a lady in Ukraine was handing handfuls of sunflower seeds to the Russian soldiers so that when they fell, a sign of Ukraine would take their place. She called them fascists and pieces of shit to their faces. I also saw a young girl, no more than 10, screaming at them to get out of her country. She even belted one of them.
Neither of the soldiers confronted lifted their weapons; they just asked the older lady to walk away. They walked away from the little girl.
It may be me, but to be honest, the Russian Soliders don't look like their heart is in it.
I just hope than Zelensky agreeing to meet for talks in Belarus does not lead to something more awful.
