Lovely Lichfield, and Lana
Tidied house, drove to Nottingham to pick up wine from James for rich car man (James has 6 bottles of his favourite Gevry-Chambertin). Watched end of Leeds v Spurs (James is a Spurs fan) - I can't help liking Marcelo Bielsa, and especially his honesty and humility, but his team have conceded 20 goals in their last 5 matches and the talk is that the sack is coming...
Drove to Lichfield to see Francis and Cheryl for a joint "birthday" meal, at The Larder, which was wonderful (stopping at services to watch England v Wales via mobile hotspot via facetime link with BGCoffee!), then watched Man City get VERY lucky in their match v Everton (NOT impressed with Pep, why couldn't he just say "we got away with one there"? - avid Man City fan Micah Richards was able to admit that in the studio...).
Back to the meal - really lived up to the billing - you can read my review on TripAdvisor if so inclined! (might take a day or so to get approved...) - suffice to say the title of my review is "Blown Away". The lovely meal and service was given added poignancy when in response to my usual question to our waitress Lana regarding her heritage (I'm genuinely interested in others' cultures, but also try to do my bit to communicate respect and appreciation to "foreigners", especially as I know that's not always what they get here in the UK...), her answer, as she tried to keep her tears at bay, was "Ukraine"...
