Reredorter

At parkrun, there was no wind, which meant my fingers were cold but not frozen, which made giving out finish tokens easier than last week.

We went to Castle Acre this afternoon to look at the Norman priory and castle. The photo shows the priory’s reredorter. It comprises a row of alcoves on the ground floor and another row of alcoves on the upper floor. In each alcove is a wooden seat with a hole in it. The seats are above a stream.
