Friday: Riba and Arturo
I do have a few minor things to take care of next week but, to all intents and purposes, today was my last full day in the office. Saying goodbye to some staff has been quite hard as not everyone has been in the office, so some farewells have been virtual. It’s a shame to have to do it this way after 5 1/2 years.
Once we get to our next destination a period of abstention will have to kick in. I’ve been having farewell meals and drinks for Britain! This afternoon, those of us were in the office went out for a few drinks, for me this was on top of a hefty farewell lunch.
Tonight K and I were invited to our neighbours, Riba and Arturo, for dinner. They have been the best of neighbours - friendly, chatty, interested and respectful. We hope we have been the same. Originally from Mexico, they are Jewish so we started the meal with the sabbath blessing which felt quite special. This was followed by a splendid Mexican meal, complete with tacos and tostadas.
