Dunnock
This little Dunnock sang beautifully in the garden this morning.
I was interested to read that the Dunnock is one of the main hosts for a cuckoo, once the young Cuckoo has hatched from it’s egg it will set about removing any other eggs or young Dunnocks that remain in the nest. The adult Dunnocks feed the Cuckoo chick even though it will eventually come to dwarf them in size. Fortunately, since a pair of Dunnocks can rear two or three broods in a season, they may still rear chicks of their own later in the year.
