A day of contrasts

I was thinking that when I woke this morning, my thoughts would quickly turn to it being the day that England removes the remaining Covid restrictions and that I can now remove the tags Pandemic and Coronavirus from my journal entries.  Well that has happened of course  but as I was woken by our clock radio and BBC Radio 4 news, I learned that Russia has invaded Ukraine, on the orders of Vladimir Putin.  A terrible act in itself, there is the fear that this may lead to war throughout Europe.  As one danger seems to recede, another appears.  My thoughts today are with the people of Ukraine.
