Life through the lens...

Fairburn Ings

One of the best things about being retired is that you can decide to just set off for the day if the weather is fine.
Today was such a day.

What a beautiful Spring day. The sun was shining so off we went to RSPB Fairburn Ings nature reserve, near Castleford.

The best day so far this year, and a temp. of 14c!

It felt as if nature was beginning to awake from a deep winter sleep! (us included!!!)

The frogs were croaking in the pond, and having a great time!!
Birds singing with joy, blackbirds, robins, chaffinches, and chiffchaffs among them.
A baby coot had just left the nest and was swimming along with mum.
Several pairs of great crested grebes were looking for nesting sites.

Saw my first bumble bee of the year. (no butterflies yet)

It was just a wonderful day!

I know there is a lot in this collage, but it might look better large.
