East beach

This is the East beach of Nairn looking east towards the Culbin sand dunes and the Culbin forest. The dunes on the right have only taken 60 years to establish themselves. The sand is crisp and white and the sea shallow behind the sand bar. The tide however comes in very quickly and regularly catches people out in the holiday season. For those of you who know Studland in Dorset, this is a very similar environment. This particular morning the sand was white with the frost and snow. I liked the way the low sun showed up the undulations on the beach surface.
