El Humedal

The "humedal" is the wetlands. This extends from the road between Villaviciosa and Rodiles down to the Ría, a short walk away. Visible to the right of the photo is a small group of houses, of which at least one is still occupied and in good repair. In the extra, and one of the group, is an "indiano", which are houses built by people who emigrated to the Americas and came back and built ostentatious houses. How those fortunes were made may vary, certainly slavery or the use of slave labour are sometimes involved. This pàrticular casona´s for sale, if anyone fancies a doer-up with an uncertain past......
As a second extra, a couple of twisted wetland trees. And a third and fourth, more parts of the house´s frontage. I´ll move the extras to Flickr in a day or two.
