Bargate

Had a shopping trip to Southampton today. The Bargate is right in the middle of one of the main thoroughfares in the City Centre. It is a Grade 1 listed medieval gatehouse. It was constructed in Norman times as part of the City's town walls and was the main gateway. The building is a scheduled monument which has served as a temporary exhibition and event space for Southampton Solent University since 2012.
