Woodland

Firstly, thanks very much for all the stars and kind comments on yesterday's bee blip.

Today's walk was in the beautiful Overhall Grove in Knapwell,  a Wildlife Trust woodland only about 15 minutes drive from home. What a treat this place is - it's about 70ha of elm, oak and ash trees; lots of fallen, rotting wood; moss; badger sets; emerging nettles; no traffic sounds; and very noisy birds. Oh and there's a Norman church!

In the wind the trees clacked and squeaked against each other and looking up was breathtaking to see the tree tops moving against the sky and scudding clouds.

Extra: Parts of the wood had a strong feeling of Middle Earth (yes I know that's not real...) and therefore of New Zealand's South Island, mysterious and ancient. I'll be going back there.

Many thanks to fellow blipper MartinDawe for alerting me to this magical woodland.
