A good place for a run

This road (Exhibition Drive) runs alongside the old pipeline from the storage dam to the water treatment station. And is essentially flat. It was the flattest portion of the long Sunday morning training run we did all those years ago. Now, I am happy to run gently along the second half, being always ready to stop to take a photo.

The dog walkers shown in today's blip were actually not consciously seen by me at the time of taking the photo; I was too busy concentrating on the curve of the pipe. As I ran to the end of the pipeline I met a cyclist, some couples walking and talking, some with dogs and some without. And a car. 

Further to my words of yesterday, I have read an analysis by Toby Manhire in The Spinoff about lack of cohesion, even a "chasm of division" in New Zealand society. He disagrees, and points out the figures showing an extremely high level of shared support for Governmental policies. Such as while 25% in a survey believed that the requirements set by the Government (e.g. the mandates) go too far, 50% believe that the Government has it about right, and the other 25% believe the restrictions should be greater. That 75% is still less than the vaccination rate of nearly 95% of eligible New Zealanders being double vaccinated.

Too much attention is being demanded by those occupying Parliament's grounds. As Manhire writes, observers of this interpret the actuality from differing viewpoints, and reach different conclusions. The nasty underbelly being revealed here is not new; three years ago the actions of an Islamophobe shocked this country into recognising that horror can and does occur here. We have to place barriers in the way of any sort of repeat of that.

The peaceful and beautiful place I have to exercise helps keep my mind calm.
