Dog Canyon trail, Oliver Lee State Park

I camped in Oliver Lee Memorial State Park, and on my first day walked up the Dog Canyon trail just past the forest boundary. Unlike in New Zealand, where the forest boundary has trees growing below the alpine zone, in the desert, trees grow above the boundary at higher elevations, where there is more precipitation.
