Thank You For the Days ..

By Fyael

Luckily ...

Yesterday, in Stockaree, in the Shelter Bookshop, I came upon this ....

It has been the most wonderful distraction today, from the horrors of listening to the news .. I've been transported back  a century into the world that my mother grew up in (a period with no shortage of dreadful news). Doris Ann Goodchild must have been a delightful person, her joie de vivre leaps off the page. She published her first book, aged 72 ... and many more followed, all hand-written and drawn. I'd love to meet someone who knew her ... there must be some out there ....

Look at the extra for a flavour of her style. She was born in 1906 and died in 1999. You can find an account of her life on Wiki. It made me think how extraordinary an ordinary life can be, depending on how you look at it.

Tagging it for TinyTuesday, as the calligraphy is impressive
