Heat pumps are a green way of heating a home, especially when powered by a green source of electricity.

It is an interesting fact that a heat pump can raise the temperature of water to 50 degrees C and above even when the ambient air temperature is below 0C.

The simple way to experience this is to stand in front of the grills and feel how much heat has been extracted from the air. I don’t recommend standing in the breeze for any length of time.

The cold air is very cold indeed. At the same time the extracted heat is being sent to the heating system for the house, using the refrigeration cycle.
