Beautiful morning - stormy beach

Went to Kairaki Beach this morning - stunning morning thought the beach would be lovely. Well it was, but totally different to what I expected. No calm water here, very rough surf, river in flood and a surging high tide with the beach covered in driftwood swept down the river and onto the beach. No birds, people, dogs, or SUVs on the beach, so very different to the usual, but fascinating in its own way.
