Inlay Shavings. Leica/Lumix Macro-Elmarit 45mm
I'm delighted to report that I'm back in the wood shavings business! These are plane shavings from a batch of inlay that I prepared in about 2002 for decorating an Italian harpsichord. In the recent workshop reorg, a whole box of assorted inlays came to light, and my Editor and I decided that some of it should be incorporated into the chest of drawers' decoration. The inlay is 4mm across and consists of a layer of Macassar ebony on either side of a layer of holly. It will be sunk into a field of Olive-Ash burl; the ebony should stand out rather nicely. All will be revealed soon!
