Intrepid adventurers!

Arriving last night, having traveled through the wind and rain of Storm Franklin, it was lovely to have the family all safely here this morning.

The wind eased and the rain stopped there was even a bit of sun so we headed up to the St Ives Estate to feed the water fowl. Of first interest was the overflowing stream just inside the Kly Rd the entrance. The debris was blocking the entrance to the  passage that normally carries the stream under the road.
I haven’t seen it like this before, cascading down the hill on the other side. Eda was fascinated with it and we followed the gushing stream up towards the pond, intrepidly crossing it to take a closer look at the amazing tree with the raised roots.

We fed the ducks and the swan and pen at the feeding station. Further on the path was under water where the pond was breached. The swan is chasing away his offspring from last year as the mating season approaches but we managed to feed a few of them when he was busy elsewhere. The steps leading down from the pine edge were a waterfall.

We walked back along the road and bumped into Corinthian Column for a brief chat before returning to the car. When we got the council wagon had arrived and they had cleared the blockage returning the stream to it’s underground course. Glad we were there in time to see it in flood.

Eda spent some of the afternoon making patterns with Aquabeads whilst Jude had her nap. She concentrated well and made her own design, she can only really do this sort of thing when Jude is asleep as she wants to be into everything.
I don’t remember Eda being quite such a whirling dervish at the same age ( 17 months old today) but she’s a lovely one - you just have to be on your toes all the time!
