Smug no longer

Thought we had survived all the recent storms without any damage.

But Storm Franklin has taken the smile off our faces.
During the night a great gust toppled our precious Laburnum tree. It fell on the wall knocking some stones off and blocking half of the busy road which goes past our house.
It was not until we drew back the curtains at breakfast that we saw what had happened in the night.

So at 08.30 you would find two eighty something year olds in their gilettes jaune out on the road moving rocks, sawing off all the lower branches and dragging them up into the garden. We could not deal with the main trunk however. But luckily we were able to get the village landscaping company round here by 11 a.m. My blip shows them sawing through the main trunk. By midday the road was clear and all was safe. They will have to return to repair the wall
Not the sort of peaceful morning I expected. Rather like being back at work. You went into the office planning to do task A only to find that you had to spend the whole day dealing with crisis B.
We shall miss the bright yellow Laburnum.  It put on a fine show which I have blipped more than once. See extra
