NZ Summer 2024

For the tug fans

Nearly my final day at the apartment today and my timing was  good as Kokako had finished discharging fuel and was ready to leave assisted by Huria Matenga II (in the Blip) and W H Parr which is the Ports oldest tug, in the Extra.

If you have ever wondered what the bulbous nose on ships is for?
The waves a ship forms as it drives through the water run down the side of the hull creating drag the bulbous nose forms a second wave that counteracts the drag from the first wave so making the ship faster and more fuel efficient.
