Wonderful wood.
Woke up a little later than normal to discover there was still no power but that became an exciting challenge.
I did email Octopus Energy, my energy supplier, to ask if they had any accurate information about when it would be reinstated. Despite it being early Sunday morning I had an almost instant reply giving me links to the SSE power outage website and compensation site, I thoroughly recommend them!
Anyway, back to the challenge. There is a small ledge at the top of my wood burner where I can heat water in a pan and cook porridge, toast is easy with the door open so Sunday breakfast was the same as usual.
The Conifer trunk which came down was a challenge to cut out without causing further damage but I did it, then started cutting and splitting some of the wood from the road outside.
My evening meal, pictured above, was griddled aubergine in an onion, butter bean and tomato sauce all cooked on an old, butchered BBQ.
Sitting inside by candlelight listening to the wind continuing to howl is very cosy.
Today's lesson learned, I use too much water when I wash up so I'll be getting a bowl to place in the sink in the near future.
