Barolo
This bottle of wine was a birthday present a couple of years back and it has been awaiting a special occasion to be opened and consumed. It's 24 hours since Jen came back from her Mum's and we haven't argued or fought and she hasn't spent any time sat n front of her computer playing facebook games so at this juncture it seemed appropriate to go for it whilst, to be hones, we are still together and she gets to taste it too. I have been dying to drink it ever since reading a rather interesting review of the wine.
It did not disappoint. In some respects I wish I had opened it whilst she was away, which I was very close to doing. We had venison fillet for dinner along with the first glass and then slowly drank the rest over the course of the evening. Its taste kept changing, like the reviewer stated, though my palette is not good enough to pick out all the individual flavours, and as I got closer to the bottom of the bottle I found myself never wanting it to end. I know a lot of people don't think that expensive wine (over £10 a bottle) is worth the money but despite the fact that I would not be paying £30 a bottle just to get sloshed on a Saturday night (especially as it now takes me at least two bottles to get properly sloshed) you really do get flavours in expensive wine that you never taste anywhere else.
I'm sure other stuff happened today but it all rather paled in comparison...
