A Little Ray of Sunshine
They were few and far between today but were just what was needed to lift the spirits and open the flowers. Flowers under glass that is, as with this distinctively marked Crocus sieberi. The flowers in the open garden are mostly in tatters after yesterday's gales and with more to come tomorrow, the impact has got me planning a fence along the aspect that is unprotected. A windbreak would make a difference, a fence with horizontal slats on alternate sides, which will break the force of the wind without completely obstructing it. Round here, solid panel fences have limited life expectancy!
An indoor day mostly. A lazy start but a busy afternoon. More seeds planted, some from a seed exchange and some of my own saved seed. Mostly bulbous species but a few alpines and other plants suited to gardens here. Hopefully a few spare plants to share with friends as well as some for my patch. The wind died down after lunch and Meg's walk was a peaceful stroll - apart from her tugging me along that is! Almost spring-like if not for the temperature, still cold. Extra pic. As I type this in the evening, the rain has returned and the wind is picking up again. Another stormy day ahead here.
