Go Carts

Today NMIT (Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology) bought a go cart to school for our senior workshop students to look at. NMIT staff were here to talk to our students about possible careers and options for study at NMIT - particularly in the engineering fields.

The go cart is one of their 'projects' that students can take part in, building one for themselves. Our lads all got an opportunity to take it for a ride and deemed it 'great fun'. I don't think they've been swayed from the 'mini motobike' that they make in our course at school, but it has certainly left them thinking more deeply about the possiblities of tertiary education and where they might go from here.

I had fun having a go at panning shots - most of them were not successful, but it was fun. The biggest problem I faced was the lack of 'background' features on the field - so it wasn't easy to really get the 'speed' effect.
