Calm after the storm
I spent the first three hours of the day watching the Men's GB curling team take the silver at Beijing. It was a great match. The Swedes were worthy winners of the gold and their greater experience showed in some magnificent shots. But the British (Scottish) folk played exceptionally well too and I'm sure will be back in Italy in 2026.
After the curling I managed an hour of clearing up fallen leaves and branches in the garden before it started to rain. Later I popped to the shop and found there were others along the lane clearing up fallen trees and bushes. I have a friend at the other end of Surrey whose power went yesterday morning and it is not forecast to be back on before Monday. We got off lightly.
The big decision of the day is whether to watch the Ladies GB team play their curling final live (starts 1am) or record and watch in the morning before looking at the news.
