BFFs

Juno and Frankie met when they were puppies. Every week we’d walk together - I got to know Frankie’s owner, Cathie, and we became friends as did the dogs. They had such a strong bond together that they’d run to the door at the mention of the other dog’s name, and if I walked anywhere near Frankie’s house Juno would drag me to their door.

Then Frankie started limping. She was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and it wasn’t clear if she’d ever be able to walk properly again, She had an operation, followed by weekly hydrotherapy. She also had to stay calm so couldn’t see Juno for months because they both got too excited. Still with bandaged legs, Frankie escaped one day and ran off to find Juno. A couple of weeks later Juno ran away from me and lay across Frankie’s doorstep.

Finally Frankie recovered enough that she could take short walks and see Juno a bit on the lead. The first time they got together they put their paws around each other’s necks and pressed their heads together. Fast forward 6 months and they are now able to go to each other’s houses to play and cuddle up. They still hug each other and spend a lot of time licking each other’s faces. Dogs definitely have friends.
