Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
This must be a record - I've only taken one photo today and that's the only time I've been out! We woke up to a thin covering of snow this morning, wet snow, and it was gone before lunchtime. I was trying to think of a suitable song title for the Blip and nearly settled for 'Frosty the Snow Can', but it wasn't frosty!!
When I came in from the talk last night we decided to put the car down beside the garage at the roadside, just in case the drive got snowed on, which it did!
Talking of the talk, it was quite something. So much more than a talk, but a tour of the salmon hatchery too, a good three hours, with six members of staff of Scottish Sea Farms in attendance. On arrival we had to confirm that we'd taken a lateral flow test which was negative, we were asked to wear face masks at all times in the building, we had to slip disposable plastic booties over our shoes, have our temperatures taken, and record the details in a book. All very proper as befits a food production unit, we were told!
I won’t go into too much detail, tho’ I could, but the talk and tour were both suggestive of quite fundamental changes in aquaculture, not only conforming to the many new government regulations, but also taking on public criticism. Obviously if you’re totally against intensive fish and animal farming of all kinds then you won’t be convinced, but my answer to that is ‘Cut the human population and we won’t need so much food’! In other words ‘Too many people’!
Quote of the Day - “The problem of the growing food shortage cannot be solved without in many cases a simultaneous effort to moderate population growth.”
- U Thant, former UN Secretary-General (1909-1974)
