a lifetime burning

Hunkering down

Storm Eunice arrived and is still blowing a hooley outside.  I had vaguely entertained the thought that I might nip across to the Severn coastline to see if I could get some suitable stormy shots.  But the reality of the strong winds brought me to my senses and I've settled for staying inside today.  The weather has definitely been interesting, although there have been occasional patches of sunshine amidst the torrential showers.  However, the wind has not let up in the slightest and is still howling round the house now.

We've managed to avoid any significant damage so far, although one of the cast aluminium chairs got blown into the pond.  These things are not that light! Our neighbours but one have not been so lucky and have already lost the entire length of the fence along their rear garden.

Instead, I've taken this image of the Roundhill at Kelston from one of the bedroom windows, while standing on a chair and sticking the camera lens out of the open window.  (I need the extra height in order to see over the tree in our garden!).  I love the way the sunlight plays across the slopes.  If you didn't know that we had winds gusting at 56mph currently you wouldn't necessarily be able to guess from this shot.
