Save the rats

So we ducked out of the woods and along the river as someone is leaving piles of rat poison in the woods. I know. I can't believe it either.
I just don't get it. There are bound to be rats - that's where they live, as well as in our streets and gardens. But why is some complete eejit taking it upon themselves to control the rat population? Because leaving large piles of pink rat poison scattered throughout the woods will not kills the rats. It will be dogs, cats, foxes, rabbits, birds, squirrels.
It makes me so so so SO cross.
