The calm before/after the storm

After a very windy night, we got a beautiful calm(ish) morning so I made the most of it and went out for an early walk before breakfast. I was expecting to see some damage after the storm but the only things I noticed were that out wheelie bin had moved a foot, and a couple of swings had got caught in the branches of the tree they were hanging on. Not beaches across the road, no rubbish bins blown over. I wonder if we’ll get more of that tomorrow.

The university announced late this afternoon that they were closing campus tomorrow, although the library will remain open. Fortunately I don’t need to go in which I’m very pleased about - I wasn’t looking forward to driving in 80 mph winds down tree-lined country roads. I’ve put the bins in the garage and moved anything else that is vulnerable, and we’ll hope not to get any damage. Hope everyone else stays safe.
