2022 Tuesday — Orthopedics Again

My “trigger” thumb surgery was way back in July. Post-surgery should have ended in September. My thumb, however, didn’t quit misbehaving when the surgery was completed. “Happily ever after” was not how my thumb surgery story ended.

My thumb never regained consciousness. It’s mostly numb, but it also burns and tingles. It doesn’t, though, “trigger” anymore (click when I bend the knuckle).

I did revisit the surgeon eight weeks after surgery and was told to “give it more time to heal.” That seemed like a lame remedy. So I have given it 7-months.

I did not tell the surgeon that I am currently doing laser treatments at a medical office that is not part of Kaiser Medical and that it's costing more than I could have ever imagined. But I did ask if she thought the thumb would be helped by another injection of steroid. Oh! She was not in favor of that at all. So I asked about acupuncture. Yes, that would be an option. So she put in a referral and soon I should hear from that department. So if laser does not solve this, I still have another option.
