Moira Furnace

Stewart, RPS organiser for the East Midlands region, invited me to pop over to Swadlincote for a chat in the Conkers YHA café. Len decided to come too with Basil.

I'd expected others to be there but in the event, it was just Stewart with his wife Shona and daughter Jessica.

Len took Basil out for his first walk, then Jessica took him out again. I hope that makes up for the neglect he might have felt on Monday and Tuesday.

We'd passed Moira Furnace just down the road so we drove in to take a look after we parted from Stewart and his family. It's one of the best remains of an old blast furnace dating from the beginning of the 19th century. We'll probably return when the weather gets warmer because it stands right by the Ashby Canal and there are also woodland walks.

In the spirit of Stewart's Ginkgo project, here is my haiku for the day:
