Barrioboy's birthday
We'd both decided we'd have today off and we did. Coffee in the house in the morning and then down to Barceloneta and the port, for a walk and lunch. We walked down Las Ramblas first and here's Bb, just after I'd bought him some birthday freesias. Our first choice of restaurant, Salamanca, was too busy for us (and on a Wednesday!), but we found a lovely alternative with a view over the port and enjoyed shared pescaditos fritos to start, followed by seafood fideos - not fideua, we realised, when it arrived at our table! Both delicious and then a crema de maracujà, nodding to Brazil and perhaps inspired by some Brazilian music that they'd been playing. A walk through the windy, narrow old barrio gótico streets and our hearts took us to Plaza Reial and Glaciers terrace, which has been a firm favourite now for over 30 years. It's dark now and we're both preparing our blips.
I've added a few extras. I never use them up!
Edit: we had lunch on the stretch below the museum of Catalunya - quite a touristy stretch, but this was a cut above.
