Belfast

Went so see Belfast this afternoon. A really powerful film. Evocation of place and time is spot on, but the central performances are stunning. If Judy Dench doesn’t win an Oscar there is no justice.
Very conscious throughout that Mr EAnn who grew up just up the road was living through it in a way that I wasn’t. Thoughts turned often to my father in law and late mother in law and how different things might have been if they too had fled their birthplace.
