Van Gogh self portraits at The Courtauld Gallery

Beautiful exhibition, probably a once in a lifetime opportunity given that they have borrowed pictures from collections in several countries. Went to see it with P., an old friend and artist in her own right. Very knowledgeable which added to the enjoyment. Also nice to grab lunch and coffee and catch up.

This one struck me as he seems to be being sucked into a vortex, in fact if you look closely he is merging with the background as if losing himself in a maelstrom of blue and yellow.

Talking of painters -

Back home the decorating saga continues. Day ten and they still haven’t finished the first of our three projects. Number two is at the stripped down phase and number three hasn’t even been started. Nice guys but full of bullshit and bad communication. Situation normal in my experience …
