Roses of Morpeth
Morpeth NSW is on the banks of the Hunter River, upstream of Newcastle. Colonial settlement took place in the 1830s. The name Morpeth was taken from a town of that name in Northumberland, UK. The imposing heritage-listed timber bridge over the Hunter was designed by Percy Allen and built in the late 1890s. It is described as a substantial and rare overhead braced Allan type timber truss road bridge (Wikipedia).
About 20 km away is Seaham Swamp Nature Reserve, where we had a blip meet and birdo walk with blipper jensphotos. Many thanks Jenny for suggesting this lovely place. My extra is a family of swans - black parents and pale coloured cygnets.
