Lala's Journal

Snap

Quick snap as walked Dog this morning.
The day began with a palaver booking an hour’s slot to visit Mr L. My allotted time was 3pm. Although it looked like he would be discharged I took a couple of bits he would need should they keep him in. The hospital is building a Nightingale hospital in the mai hospital car park and to park I was directed right round the back of the main building. It’s huge and I had no idea where I was! A kind lady who declared herself not busy walked me through numerous corridors to the Medical Unit. I wasn’t there longer than 15 minutes, most of which was spent filling out a risk assessment form when a porter arrived to take Mr L for a CT scan. I spoke to a nurse who told me she didn’t know how long he would be or when he would be discharged, as the doctor had to check the scan and blood results first, so it would be best to go home and wait to be called.

A couple of hours later the doctor called and said he would not be discharged. They have found ‘something’ on the lung. They don’t know what it is, and as the antibiotics don’t appear to be working (blood results) it could be a different type of infection or something more sinister (doctor’s words). So, he stays in, with a different antibiotic and the respiratory consultant will do more tests and review tomorrow.
