Is it a bird...is it a plane...is it...

...a railway station? No! It's the National Museum of Scotland! This is a wonderful, wonderful building, and this central hall is a pure delight. It was finished about 1880 and has had various additions and renovations over the years - most recently from about 2009 to 2011. Like many people in Edinburgh the Museum was always our Sunday excursion of choice when it was chucking down with rain and the kids needed somewhere to run around indoors - and there was the possibility that they might learn something at the same time. Now it's a regular haunt for our daughter and grand-daughter. After the recent refurbishment there is now a big children's room with lots of great things to play with, and of course there are hundreds of stairs to go up and down endlessly (she's 2). And today was her birthday!! So we all met up at the Museum at lunchtime and she got some of her presents to open, and we bigger people oohed and aahed and generally enjoyed her pleasure and excitement. And I got my blip! Can't be bad!

LARGE - it's the only way!
